Our Leaders

Dr. Charles Williams

Pastor

Charles Williams was born in Jacksonville, Mississippi. He is the eldest son born to Minnie Lee Williams. His father is the late Joseph Pelt. At the young age of seven; Charles and his family moved north to Syracuse, N. Y. He was saved and baptized at the early age of seven, at his home church, St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Syracuse, N. Y.

After joining the United States Army, spending many years overseas, returning to state side duty at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he met and married the former Sergeant Cynthia Mack. The Lord has blessed them with 5 children and 7 grandchildren.

The Williams family searched for a church home in Maryland. In 1991, the Lord led them to the Evangel Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend DeWayne G. Parker. While serving at Evangel, the Lord truly elevated Charles rapidly. He served in several offices; as Deacon Chairman, Chairman and Chaplain of Men’s Ministry, Chairman and Instructor of Discipleship classes, Vacation Bible school instructor and Sunday school
instructor. As the Assistant Pastor, Reverend Williams is also very active in his community. He holds the highest honor in Tae Kwon Do, which is Grand Master. Currently, he mentors; counsels and instructs adults and young children in the art and discipline of Tae Kwon Do and Self Defense classes, through his own established martial arts business. He is currently authoring two inspirational books, one for married couples and marriages titled “A Man and His Rib” and the other titled, “What About the Sheep?” because it seems that people in the church are more concerned about the Pastors but what about the members of the church?

Reverend Williams was licensed to preach the Gospel in 1996 and was ordained in 1997. Reverend Williams has obtained multiple degrees and diplomas to show himself approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15). He holds a Ph. D., in Psychology, Masters in Theology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education.

Finally and foremost, Dr. Williams believes that all of his education and leadership skills are of no avail unless he keeps God first in all that he does in the Spirit of Excellence. He continues to allow God to stretch him well beyond his physical limitations. He gives God all the praise for He alone is worthy. Dr. Charles Williams and Pastor Cynthia Williams are founders and Pastors of the Spirit of Excellence Christian Ministries International (SOECMI) in Waldorf, MD. Through the visionary leadership at SOECMI is a spiritually and socially conscience ministry characterized by true Praise and Worship, Dynamic Teaching and Powerful Preaching.
